Dr. Shirmohammadi will be a panelist at the 7th Annual California Energy Summit on the topic of “Impacts of California’s Latest IRP Proceeding on Renewables Procurement and Decarbonization” at the L.A. Grand Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
This year’s summit will bring together California’s top regulatory officials, utility and public power leaders, and developers to discuss the statewide implications of SB100 and solutions to California’s most pressing challenges in forming a 100% green grid. Some of the highly impactful topics to be discussed include wildfire prevention plans, transmission buildout needs, resource adequacy reform, the shifting roles of LSEs, and more.
On Wednesday, July 17 the panel will congregate to discuss California’s new framework for identifying efficient strategies for meeting state goals recently completed its first cycle. The CPUC unanimously voted in favor of the Preferred System Portfolio which consisted of 12 gigawatts of new generation, procured mostly by CCAs. The panel will discuss the lessons learned from the last iteration of the IRP process, how the IRP might change given the current market events, and how it will affect the rate at which renewables are procured.
